Mariken Zandvliet holds teaching positions at the conservatories of Utrecht and Amsterdam.
Maiken is a member of Trio Lataster (oboe, cello, piano) and tango quartet Tango Aliado.
She has also been invited as a jury member at international piano competitions.
Born in Troyes (France), Mariken Zandvliet received her first piano lessons at the age of seven.
At fourteen she made her debut as a soloist with the “Gewestelijk Orkest” of South-Holland.
In Utrecht, Mariken Zandvliet studied with Herman Uhlhorn and obtained with honours her diploma of “Performing Musician”.
Later she studied Chamber Music and Lieder-accompanying with Norman Shetler at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Besides appearances as a soloist, her activities cover a wide range, including performances with various orchestras and chamber music ensembles.
With them she has taken part in tours to Scandinavia, France, England, Germany, Marocco, South East Asia, Central and South America and the USA.
She is a member of the Bonnard Trio and of ensemble La Rondine and has held masterclasses in Liechtenstein (with bassoonist Peter Gaasterland) and China (with soprano Margo Rens).
Together with the violinist Tjeerd Top she had travelled and performed extensively, as well as held workshops and masterclasses in the countries visited. Their concert programmes often feature modern music, including first auditions of works by contempory composers.
